TECSEL® SEALING SYSTEMS
The services crossing are points of conflict since the fire can quickly spread through them as they facilitate the transmission of smoke and hot gases.
In modern buildings, the complexity in the installations significantly increases, therefore its influence must be considered when the compartmentations are designed.
The risk of fire propagation must be reduced by using Sealing Systems for penetrations, in the points where the services cross through the fire compartments.
The DB SI indicates that the required fire resistance of the fire compartmentation elements must be maintained in the points where such elements are traversed by installations, such as cables, pipes, ducts, ventilation ducts, etc; excluding the penetration whose services crossing do not exceed 50 cm2. To that end, we can place an element, which in case of a fire, automatically blocks the services crossing and guarantees in such point a fire resistance at least equal to that of the traversed element, for example a blocking intumescent device.
However, in the event of having several gaps under 50 cm2, but close enough to pose a risk, we must proceed as follows:
- The gaps separated less than 3 m to each other must add up their services crossing, for the purpose of determining whether it is needed to maintain the fire resistance of the compartment element or not.
